Whew! We are all back at home together. William was discharged from the NICU on Thursday afternoon. I spent Wednesday night with him in a little room off of the NICU. He was unhooked from all of his monitors and the nurses visited us twice throughout the night to do some blood work and other tests on him to make sure he was okay. Most of the his heart and lung issues, which interfered with his ability to absorb oxygen, had resolved themselves by Tuesday, but they were still concerned with his ability to maintain adequate blood sugar levels. They needed to make sure that he could maintain his blood sugar out of the hospital. So, William spent Wednesday night eating - every hour on the hour, at his command - and I was happy to comply. He had great blood sugar levels on Thursday morning so the doctor said we could take him home! What a relief.
Sofie was SO happy to finally meet her brother. She has been so good with him since he's been home and has wanted to do everything for him.
Spending a little time with William in the "rooming in" room off the NICU.

Ready to go home!! Sofie picked out William's coming home outfit. It has stars all over it.

Sofie meets William for the first time.

Sofie wanted to have a snack at the same time as William.

Welcome Home baby William - great pictures and I see sofie has her own baby to take care of for the time being, until William's big enough for her to show him the ropes!
What blessed news and celebratory photos to accompany.
