Dad gets ready to carve his beautiful turkey and Auntie Melissa preps her scrumptious goodies in the background. We had a fabulous dinner this year!

Turkey makes daddy happy. Sofie was happy with her cottage cheese and garbanzo beans.

Papa brought salt that he had collected from Kaiwi Point on the Big Island and on Thanksgiving morning, mommy, daddy, Sofie and Papa went on a hike and gathered water from Barton Springs in Austin. Papa used the salt and water to bless our home and property with a blessing that he wrote in Hawaiian. It was very special.

It was a cold day in Austin when we did it!

Here is the blessing that he wrote, in Hawaiian:
Eia ka pa'akai mai ka lae o Kaiwi ma Hawai'i
Eia ka wai mai ka 'aina 'e o Kekeka
Ho'ohui kakou e pili pu i keia mau 'aina
a e ho'opomaikai'i i ka home o Amy laua o Peter Einhorn
na haku hale a me na mea ho'okipa 'ia
e ho'onanea 'oukou ma keia hale
E ho'opomaika'i i ko makou mau 'ohana a me keia mau 'aina

And translated into English:
Here is sea salt from Kaiwi Point, Hawaii
Here is fresh spring water from Texas
We mix these two to join these two lands
and bless the home of Amy and Peter Einhorn
hosts and guests
make yourself at home
Bless our families and these lands.

We mixed the two in a Danish bowl and sprinkled the salt water around the property.

Sofie got to see some of the ceremony from under her hat.
